1,100 TPD Fly Ash Drying Project

In August 2025, Zhengzhou Dongding Machinery commissioned a 1,100 t/d fly ash rotary drying line for a coal-fired power plant in Mongolia. The project converts high-moisture fly ash from electrostatic precipitators into a dry, marketable product for cement and building-materials applications.
Project Background
The client's power plant produces large volumes of fly ash with an initial moisture content of around 28–32%. Stockpiling and disposal were becoming costly and environmentally constrained, so the client sought a reliable drying solution that could run continuously with minimal operator intervention.
After a site survey and material testing at Dongding's laboratory, our engineers proposed a single-pass rotary drum drying system with an indirect hot-air furnace and full dust collection.
Solution & Process
The complete line covers wet-cake feed, drying, dedusting and finished-product handling. Wet fly ash is fed by screw conveyor into the rotary drum, where specially designed lifting flights keep the material evenly dispersed and in constant contact with the hot-air stream.
Feed and metering system with breaking screw conveyor
Φ3.6 × 28 m single-pass rotary drum dryer
Indirect hot-air furnace with PLC temperature control
Cyclone and pulse-jet bag filter dust collection
Automatic control cabinet with remote monitoring
Results & Benefits
The line reaches its full design capacity with final moisture below 5%, and the recovered fly ash is now sold locally as a cement additive. Dust emissions are kept well within the local environmental standard.
"The commissioning went smoothly and the line has been running stably since start-up. Dongding's team handled installation and training professionally."
— Project Director, Mongolian power plant
Conclusion
This project reinforces Dongding's capability to deliver large-capacity, turnkey fly ash drying solutions with dependable after-sales support across Central Asia.
