Introduction of Alfalfa Rotary Dryer
Alfalfa (forage grass) has high nutritional value and is suitable for animal feed. However, its water content is extremely high, making it unsuitable for storage. The new type of triple-pass rotary drum dryer is commonly used to dry various kinds of forage grass. It can reduce the moisture content from 65-50% to about 10% at one time, and is suitable for drying elephant grass, alfalfa (lucerne), pasture grass, foxtail, napier grass, seaweed, and other similar materials. Compared with traditional dryers, this dryer requires less floor space and offers improved drying efficiency.

Working Principle of Alfalfa Rotary Dryer
With a moisture content of 45-75%, the crushed forage is fed into the rotary drum via a conveyor for concurrent-flow drying. Inside the drum, the inner-layer lifting flights repeatedly lift and scatter the forage, causing it to move in a spiral path through the inner, middle, and outer layers. This design ensures full contact between the forage and the hot air, achieving efficient drying. The dried forage is then quickly carried through and discharged from the drum by the airflow.
Undried wet forage, due to its own weight, cannot move as quickly. It remains within the controlled travel path for sufficient drying until the moisture content is reduced to the required 12% (as specified by the customer), completing the drying process. The dried forage is then discharged via a screw conveyor. Besides, the drum is equipped with specialized breaking and cleaning devices to prevent uneven drying and avoid charring or scorching of the forage grass.
